Well then, after developing a loyal readership with my daily whingeing and rants, I've started to receive demands to update my journal every day!! As the threatening letters fill my e-mail inbox, I've decided to express my view of the world.

But see the thing is, I'm actually not as angry as I should be today.

Despite a relatively crappy day at work (and in my life) which is bound to get worse from here.

Despite Melbourne's schizophrenic weather.

Despite having no money.

I'm clinging to hope. Clinging to the thought of getting paid tomorrow. Possibly getting drunk tomorrow and then sleeping in on Saturday. And when that happens, there will be Simpsons and pancakes for all.

For this reason I've decided to share a parable about winter with you, my trusted readers.

The Story of the Grasshoppper and the Octopus:

As winter approached, the Grasshopper put away as much food and acorns as he could, preparing for the cold season when food was scarce.

The Octopus on the other hand, mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV.

When winter finally came, the Grasshopper died a slow agonising death from hypothermia. And the Octopus ate all his food and acorns and also he got a racecar.

The moral of this story is simply this. You can prepare for bad days. You can prepare for bad moods and depression. You can prepare for a lack of money, or sex or drugs.

But still you may fail, like the Grasshopper.

I realise this is quite a pessimistic view, but it's the way the world works. So you'll forgive me right now if I dont think too hard about the future. Because like the Octopus, I may very well be slovenly and lazy, but still ultimately suceed.

the end.

you know what?

I actually agree with you.

But I will still do what the hopper did.

I do it because I feel better doing it.

Of course I will do what the octopuss does as well and live off my girlfriend ... but thats not going to happend.

I am too egoistic for my own good.

so yeah .. be the hopper. :)
and be the puss. :)

Right now I'm totally the Octopus, except I really dont have anyone too mooch off!

I got told the other day that I'm an emotional vampire, so I guess that's just as bad :-)
